Attending: Stefan, Christine, Jason, Karin, Clark, Ryan, Raeann, John, Eric, Kerrie, Carl Topic: Organizational skills and tools Our Coworking meetup was on a longer summer break and restarted with a great meetup. Stefan started introduction himself, sharing about construction work, being busier as planned and finding filling his paper calendar with appointments and to do lists takes all the fun out of life, unless a vacation is scheduled. We all recommended him to add some time for adventures to his calendar. Carl shared about his new life as a second time Dad, his USA representative for a German hardwood flooring company and how he uses a two-sided sheet of paper stored in his back pocket as organization system, transferring tasks back to front every two days. Kerrie told us about her latest editor project and shared the todo list app wunderlist and a family calendar in paper to sync all the events going on. Raeann admitted she usually procrastinates her design work for custom made invitations a little bit and likes the excitement and creative rush that comes with the pressure. She recently restructured her day and implemented a dedicated email response time during office hours only and enjoys the freed time and life quality. Ryan introduced us to a workshop series that helps to be more productive that we plan on implementing as a member event. He also shared some details about his marketing work and how to organize tasks and family life. John shared a little about his internet security start up and how to structure the work day. Clark gave us some insight about his multiple talents and passion for running. He just moved to Seattle to be closer to his grand kids. Karin complimented everyone on their openness and talents and her new structure as a retiree. She is very busy these days publishing her book - a work in progress for some years and now on the way to the finish line. Jason works on software projects for Alaska and the security startup with John. Staying on task for a long period is necessary for his work and he tries to balance his life and plan ahead. Christine was frustrated with her Android calendar. With one of the last updates it lost it's intuition. Syncing a paper calendar with the digital one on a regular base asks for new inventions to make this hideous task a thing of the past. She also shared a new flyer for the Office Junction and the space traveler program. Eric shared his new life without internet connection in his home. He enjoys reading books, having more time, sleeping better and organizing his day in a different, more thoughtful way. We all discussed some more organizational ideas and upcoming events and adjourned the meeting until 10/2.

We had an excellent turn out at last night’s Chamber of Commerce After-Hours party. Thank you to everyone who joined us. Thank you to Eric and Raeann for sharing what they work on at the OJ with our guests. Thank you to Tracy, Shannon and Jaimie for keeping everyone fed, and refreshed. And, thank you to Lynn and Dave from the Chamber for bringing it all together. It was fun. My only questions is: why does no one play Pay it Forward? This was a really fun party. We will have another! Ryan visited us for the first time in the new space. Danielle came to visit again. Member Eric and Bridget came for the meetup. Raeann joined us, Stefan and Christine for our Meetup.
Ryan introduced himself and his Marketing business Zeitgeist/33. He has a 3 step program for small companies to improve their marketing efforts. He is looking for new business. Raeann also is looking for new business for her Graphic Design business Rosita Designs. Eric shared thoughts about his ideas to deal with consumer information overflow, urged to simplify life. Christine still looks for software that helps her create interactive books. Danielle offered a friends contact. Stefan shared the newest updates concerning Office Junction events and past Chamber of Commerce events, some of today's attendees visited together. Danielle is passionate about educating employees and business owners about health care and the upcoming changes. She also likes to help individuals to check and understand their coverage. Bridget, our House-Nutritionist is busy with lots of events, free grocery shopping tours to buy better, healthier food, potluck and the upcoming 'Powerful Breakfast' cooking class at the Office Junction on 8/13. Raeann shared her favorite gluten-free pancake subsitute: mashed bananas and eggs. Meetup ended shortly after 1 pm. |
