We held another meetup on Tuesday 11/27 12 pm at Uptown Espresso. We first met with Chandra to go over our business plan. We got some valuable feedback from her that we will incorporate. Thank you, Chandra! This week's meetup crowd ran a little late, so for the first hour we went back and forth between introductions and location search. We had 5 people attending, two new to our meetup group. Regarding location search, we still did not hear back from the property manager for our 'dream' location at the Junction. Stefan sent out a letter to the building owner, but rumors are the space is already rented out. We toured 2 different spaces on 35th Tuesday morning. One suitable for an office space, but floor plan and location less ideal. The other space was very dark and scary, graffiti on walls, formerly housing a marijuana dispensary. For our ongoing search, we narrowed down our wishlist to - on or 1 block off California, Alaska, Admiral, Harbor, Morgan or 35th - close to one of the junctions and walking distance to lunch places - floor plan: 2 work rooms for 5 to 10 desks each, 1 or 2 separate meeting space(s), kitchen with common area/lounge, bathroom - SF 1500 and up for ca. $10/SF (new office buildings are around $25-30/SF) - easy parking We received some ideas for other spaces by email and at our meetups. Please keep your eyes open. We contacted about 10 spaces between White Center and Alki and toured 7 so far. We are committed to find something great. And with a ton of luck we might still be able to secure the Junction space. We can make it happen in 1 to 2 weeks after we found a space that would work. We talked about looking for interim sites with month-to-month to get started even if we can't find the right space now. We also talked about the possibilities to start work related problem solving sessions. We would like to get member commitments but are aware of the chicken-egg-dilemma. We would like to know how many people are in, but without knowing about the location and details, it's clear to us it's hard to commit just yet. Our next Tuesday meetups is scheduled for December 4th at 12 pm at Uptown Espresso. Please stop by for updates, networking, a feel for your future desk buddies and throw out some of those fancy business cards.

We would like to keep you updated on our coworking project for West Seattle. Please let us know if you want to be included in our open email list. There were 7 people in attendance at the 11/20 meeting, four of them new faces, and we had a good time talking about how co-working could support our business goals.. After a round of introductions, learning names and professions (Marketing, Online Retail, Contractor, Editor, Real Estate), we talked about our potential office space in the Junction, and two new potential locations- one on Harbor Avenue and another on 35th SW. We still have not received a response from the building owner/property manager of the Junction location. The consensus was that while the Junction location was nice, a location with better parking would be even more valuable. Next week- after the Thanksgiving holiday we will be touring the other locations and hopefully will be much closer to having a permanent location. We will have our regular co-working meetup every Tuesday at Uptown Espresso. It's a great opportunity to meet others, discuss work and life and hear about updates and ideas regarding our permanent space. Our next meetup will be next Tuesday, November 27th from 12 to 1.30 pm at Uptown. The next meeting after that will be on Tuesday, December 4th from 12 to 1.30 pm at Uptown. 10 people attended the 11/13 meeting and we had a good time talking about the possibilities coworking will offer to all of us. After a round of introductions, learning names and professions (Marketing, Online Retail, Contractor, Blogger, Education, Software projects, Non-Profit Tech, Writer, Designer, Moviemaker), we talked about our potential office space in the Junction. We still wait for response from the building owner/property manager. After leaving three voice mails we did not hear back. We decided to expand our search to other locations but will pursue the Junction space as well. It's just too good to pass. We brainstormed other locations suitable for our idea: Alki, close to lower bridge, Morgan Junction, old school houses, undeveloped empty spaces, warehouses, moffice, you name it, we talked about it. Please let us know, if you hear about a space that might work for our project. We are ready to get started tomorrow. We "just" have to find a space. We discussed to meet for coworking sessions at coffee shops, private homes (called "jelly" coworking), meetups, workshops, possible spaces, and all things coworking. As an interim solution you can invite people for coworking sessions at your favorite coffee shop or your home. Jerry was interested in hosting a coworking session at his house. Stay tuned for more details. Some more interested folks joined us for our second coworking meetup Wednesday, November 7th from 7 to 8 pm at Uptown Espresso and our third meetup Saturday, November 10th from 10 to 11 am. We had a good time pitching what we have in mind, learning to know everyone and hearing about all the different needs. We are very excited about the interest shown to our project in our West Seattle Community. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a picture, but hope to see everyone again soon.
Six interested community members joined us for our first coworking meetup Tuesday, November 6th from noon to 1 pm at Uptown Espresso at the Junction in West Seattle. It was great to meet everyone, hear about each others companies and answer questions about our plans for our coworking community and space.
After a great informal meeting with Tracy Record from the West Seattle Blog we got our '15 seconds of Fame' today we a post on their blog. We already got a couple of interested people emailing, using our contact form and filling out our online survey.
